No, that's not true. Next, I will tell you about otaku like myself.
I don't know if I can call myself an
otaku, but I say that I'm one to mark my interest for
anime. I find that when you become an otaku/anime-fan you start doing funny things. Going to
the library and looking up books about Japan, reading and Japanese-english dictionarys
or the more extreme taking a course in Japanese. Whenever you hear the word Japan or anime
you get this feeling inside. Same thing when you see someone with anime t-shirt on the street
or at school, you go, that's cool. It's hard to describe that feeling, but if you have you can
consider yourself a otaku.
Here is a list of signs that might
mean that you too are one of us. This is my feeble attempt
at trying to make something amusing. Hopefully this will crack a smile amongst some of you.
- You haven't seen daylight for a week
- Your floor is strewn with leftovers of Evangelion model kits
- You ordered the Tenchi Muyo In Love Special Edition Imported LD for $149.95
- You have a pile of over 200 shitajikis at home (hard plastic pad printed with anime
characters)
- You keep suggesting to the school board that anime would make an excellent school subject
- Your favorite superheroes are Astroyboy and Gigantor
- You spend all your free time studying kanji and katakana
- Your room is overwhelmed by Ryo-ohki and Totoro plush toys
- You seriously discuss the inner meaning of early Robotech episodes
- You own only dubbed videos, in japanese
- You understand that Urotsukidoji is not a childrens title ^_^
- You have stopped staring blankly when someone says cabbit
- Whenever you hear the word Japan you put down everything
- Whenever you hear the word CLAMP you think of a big sack of potatoes
- The difference between anime and manga is cristal clear
- You always relate your aquantinces to anime characters "Ahhh him! That guy who's as stern as
Tenchi's grandfather!"
